animal testing policy

McKinna Plantlabs do not and will not knowingly use meat, dairy, egg or animal derivatives unsuitable for vegetarians. We investigate all viable possibilities in pursuit of our goal to make each nutritionally complete product with a 100% plant-based (vegan) recipe.

We do not believe that animal testing, other than in-home testing for a quality or a set of qualities is acceptable. In-home tests are non-invasive, nonlethal, and cage-free tests carried out in an animal’s normal home setting with their guardian or owner. In-home tests are approved by PETA and can be used to evaluate qualities such as palatability, preference, digestibility studies, stool quality and such tests deliver real world results using animals in their normal home settings. This has clear ethical and scientific advantages over conducting experiments on animals in laboratories or animals kept kennelled specifically for food trials/testing.

We only buy ingredients from companies that do not conduct, commission or are involved in the use of animals for testing other than in-home tests as stated above.

We will not knowingly purchase ingredients from suppliers that have conducted, commissioned or been party to animal testing other than in-home tests after April 2020 unless the supplier commits to no further animal testing other than in-home testing in the future.

We fund and will continue to fund the development of non-animal test methods.
